Júlia could not be present and was represented by the also awarded Vera Magalhães. In her speech, she highlighted the different path of the award-winning and also friendly, who left the print and went to TV. “It is a different path because these means were not very interconnected and today they are. Which is very good because journalism has become a lot of platforms and Julia has made this transition very well. ”

In his thanks he highlighted the importance of placing vehicles that are outside this circuit of the great communication vehicles in the bow of women who are awarded: “I am actually a journalist from Brazil, I am from a popular communication vehicle, I make a printed newspaper in Pernambuco. A newspaper that is distributed on the street. I do journalism for the people, so it is very important to consider this type of vehicle in an award like this, in a country where the plurality of voices in communication is so difficult. So to have a firmer democracy, to have a democracy in Brazil, which we don't have, we need a press with a plurality of opinions and voices. ”

“First of all, it is an immense honor to receive this award, which is so important and values the work of women journalists. Furthermore, it is a personal achievement and the fulfillment of a dream. I am a reporter for public security, human rights and justice. I have faced many difficulties in these years of career and I will face many more, since the area I cover is extremely masculine and therefore very macho. However, I believe that the best way to fight machismo is to occupy spaces. And that, all the incredible women who are here, do very well. Obviously, all these difficulties to practice good journalism, a journalism that I believe, cannot be faced alone. And I have very special people by my side. ”
NEWSPAPER OR MAGAZINE COLUMNIST: Djamila Ribeiro – Carta Capital

Photo: Drozdowski / https://www.instagram.com/drozdowski_photos/
”I thank the Press portal for the award and all the people who voted. I am a fish out of water because I did not graduate in journalism, although I studied 3 years of journalism, then I thought it was not the way for me. I have a degree in Philosophy. But I started writing in 2013 on a website called Blogueiras Negras, a super important website that makes the voices of many black women visible. In 2014 I received an invitation from Carta Capital to write on a blog called the Feminist Office and then, in 2015 I became a columnist for the site and last year I also wrote in the press version of Carta Capital, always talking about topics that I think are important to society, with great courage, receiving some lawsuits for putting the finger on the wound. I dedicate this award to all black women in Brazil. We know that no matter how much we want to be what we want, there are several structures preventing us from being. But I believe in this symbolic power today. I hope that girls of my daughter's age, 13, can understand that we have other possibilities of existence, in addition to those that society insists on maintaining us. Thank you"

He opened the speech by thanking everyone, saying that he was very happy with the receipt of the prize and that for this reason, he had brought his best friend, his mother. He quoted a passage from a song "You don't know how far I walked to get here" as an emblematic and inevitable passage for your speech: And this walk is difficult because I heard so many not. This award comes to crown 10 years of career, which is little, in front of other professionals much more experienced and better than me, but I hope it will be a starting point of these 10 years. May difficulties that have been overcome so far not be an obstacle, because they are overcome. Now I start a new cycle in my profession. I always wanted to bring out the best in my profession and my listeners. May this award serve as a stimulus for other professionals, not only in journalism, to feel more self-confident because they are women and to beat a lion every day. I say goodbye thanking you, my mother and my grandmother.

So, in the year that we return [ao Brasil], winning the Mulher Imprensa Trophy as the best correspondent, a trophy that is very important, which has enormous significance for women, for journalists, in a traditional medium … For me, it is very special.
