It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult. (Seneca)
Did you know that the only limits to your success are those of your imagination?
Good. This affimation is perhaps a little exaggerated …
But you understand what I mean 😉
We limit ourselves too often without even noticing it.
So in this article, I'm going to give you a little pep talk and give you some stuff to go (a lot) further.
Are we slaves?
Have you noticed how easy it is to follow the flow and forget that we have dreams.
Gradually, we abdicate to exercise the responsibility that we can have on our life. I was the first to fall asleep.
Fortunately, I woke up a few years ago, and it saved me from living a boring and unsatisfying life.
With everyday life, it's as if we are gradually becoming slaves.
We are the slaves of others, events, our work, our debts, etc. Still, you surely still have dreams …
Unlock your potential, what do you say?
More than two millennia ago, the Greek philosopher and scientist Archimedes said, "Give me a lever and I will raise the world".
This lever corresponds to the unlimited growth. And what is unlimited growth?
It's a principle that when you take action by following your vision and goals, the results you get grow exponentially.
I discuss it in detail in my book of the same name.
But it is not a magic formula.
Applying the principle of unlimited growth requires time, work, trust, effort, learning and resilience, among others.
Are you still interested?
If so, it is that you already have in you the most important to succeed: the will.
With the will, if we do not raise the mountains, we face our fears, we provide efforts and we persevere in the face of difficulties.
It is the most important. However, we can help the process a little …
Create a context for success
You can first create a context for your success.
For example, if you tend to amass magazines and other items in case you need them one day, it's time to revise this habit of procrastination.
This is often the case with all the things we accumulate.
These things only serve to waste the time we spend managing them unnecessarily.
A thing ?
Keep only things that are essential to your activities and that are really important.
It can be difficult at first, but believe me the sentimentalism towards useless objects will not bring you anything very constructive.
To create a context that is conducive to achieving your goals, you must eliminate anything that is unnecessary and that may distract you or bog down. One must be free of one's movements and thoughts.
Write down your daily activities and use a calendar
My friend and speaker Mélissa Lemieux is also a life coach and author of the personal realization agenda A year for me! – My life project. Here is what she shares with us:
We must take into account the time factor in the realization of our projects and actions. The good management of the schedule is intimately linked to priorities, hence the fact of using your agenda as a tool for personal fulfillment.
Also think of all the solicitations that you have in a day.
If you do not take the time to write down the most important ones, you'll forget about them!
Many people postpone simply because they lose sight of all their activities.
But above all, do not forget to regularly check your calendar and update your lists by continually prioritizing them.
Take notes, yes yes, simple notes
My friends often teased me because I took a lot of notes for my ideas on different topics, things to do, and so on.
Laughs best who laughs last !
At first, I used sticky.
Subsequently, I kept a dictaphone continuously on me.
My wife called it in a very cute way, it was my blablateur…
It worked well, but it took a good kick where I think to motivate me to empty it, especially when it sometimes contained more than 50 entries …
Since the mobile era, I use my "smart" phone to rate.
I'm sending emails.
It's going faster than the sticky and I get rid of them every day, so I do not have to kick my ass as I had to do with the dictaphone.
Melissa will laugh at me, because e-mailing is probably not the most effective method.
I will eventually change for a better method (message to Melissa, if she wants to advise me).
But in my opinion, the most important thing is not to lose the little gold nuggets that hang from the tip of the nose every day.
Your ideas are invaluable, and creativity can manifest itself at any time, even when you are walking on the street.
Minorating or, worse still, ignoring this importance will cut you off from a great source of raw material to enrich your projects, find solutions to your problems, etc.
Increase your results
At work and in your activities, avoid being overwhelmed.
If you react quickly to situations and take initiatives, you are sure to be respected and to achieve good results.
Enter the opportunities that are related to what you do.
"If you do not have time, it means that you have to review your choices: change the order of importance of an activity, say no to another, postpone or delegate certain tasks," says us again Melissa, full of wisdom.
"Choosing is never easy, but it's about your commitment to your own cause, to make your life a dream. "
You can also increase the quantity and quality of what you do by choosing to work with people whose skills and knowledge complement yours.
You can also focus on the portion of what you do that brings you the most results.
How to start this growth without limit?
No matter what your dreams are, it's the quality of your decisions and actions that ultimately determines the quality of your life. The more you decide to improve things and the more you will get the results that will make the difference.
But you have to want it hard.
Of course, the time is limited, but it is optimized. Knowledge and skills are limited, but they are acquired.
Beyond these limits, our greatest barriers are usually those that we draw ourselves in our path.
So there are not so many real limits to the improvements you can make or the actions you can take. The improvement you can bring to your life is, therefore, unlimited.
Apart from the circle of farmers, there are two circles in which you can engage:
There is the vicious circle: we do not believe in ourselves, we give ourselves poor and misleading justifications to do nothing, we do nothing, we get nothing, we are ashamed of ourselves, this shame feeds the lack of esteem and confidence in self which in turn nourishes (and justifies) inaction, etc. Rince and Repeat, as the English speakers say …
But there is also the virtuous circle: we face our fears and we increase our confidence, we go to action and we learn, we develop our skills, we are motivated, we face the failure and we persevere, we correct the shot and we get results , confidence increases, we are even more motivated to take the next actions, we learn more and we become more efficient, we raise the bar and we continue, etc.
Rince and Repeat also.
This virtuous circle feeds on itself and allows us to achieve results that we would not have dreamed of if we had stayed in the vicious circle.
This virtuous circle which can provide exponential results corresponds to the principle of unlimited growth.
Three ways to help you unleash this unlimited growth
1. What is easy and gives results is often difficult to master at first
To succeed, you must cultivate excellence, discipline and perseverance.
Try, and try again. "Fail, fail again, fail better," said Samuel Beckett. This will give you even more than you would have expected.
2. The only limits to your success are the ones you give yourself (almost)
You limit yourself when fallacious thoughts tell you twisted stories about yourself.
They make you deny the role you can play in the results you will get in your life.
If there are different limitations réelles, a good war against your cognitive distortions, these imaginary limitsyou may be able to overcome the most imposing barriers.
3. No matter what your past, only your present and your future counts
Do not allow your past to stop you from living the life you dream of.
Focus on the fact that every action and initiative you take in the present builds your future.
The more you mobilize in action, the easier it will be for you to do great things!
A track to deepen the subject
Do you know your vision, the meaning that is most important to continue in your life?
It can be helping others, learning, using your creativity, etc.
If this is not the case, identify what is most important in your life.
Remember the times when you felt the best.
What were you doing ?
This will help you orient yourself.
Choose at least two of the strategies presented above and see how you can start applying them now.
